Pointe-au-Pic is not on the way to anywhere, and that is part of its charm. Every way in follows the river, and every way in is worth taking slowly. The directions below are the hotel's own, from its location page; the times are those the sources give, and we show where they disagree.
How long from Québec City?
This is the question everyone asks, and the published answers do not match. We print them side by side:
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| Fairmont, hotel home page | "just 90 minutes from Quebec City" |
| Fairmont, location page | Jean Lesage airport "about 120 minutes" away; total drive from the airport "approximately 120 minutes" |
| Loto-Québec | 150 km east of Québec City, "less than a 90-minute drive from Jean-Lesage International Airport" |
| Tourisme Charlevoix | La Malbaie "approximately 1.5 hours from Québec City" and "less than two hours" on another line |
In plain terms: allow between an hour and a half and two hours by car from Québec City, more in snow or in summer traffic, and more again if you stop — which you will, because the road passes Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and some of the finest viewpoints in Quebec.

The map
By air
Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) is the main airport for the region. The hotel says it is served by major Canadian and U.S. airlines and that there is no hotel shuttle: taxis, limousines, buses or rental cars are the options. The hotel's concierge can arrange transport for you if you ask before you arrive.
Aéroport de Charlevoix is about 15 minutes from the hotel. According to the hotel, it handles private and charter flights from Montréal during the summer.
By train
The Train de Charlevoix is, in the words of Tourisme Charlevoix, the province's only tourist train. It runs from spring to autumn along the river from the Parc de la Chute-Montmorency station, a few minutes from downtown Québec City, to Baie-Saint-Paul (about two and a half hours) and on to La Malbaie (about three and a half to four hours for the full line). There is no food service on board, but you may bring your own lunch; drinks are sold on board, and you may not bring your own alcohol. There are washrooms.
For 2026 the train operator, Groupe Voyages Québec, published a package that combined the train with a night at the Manoir: departure from Chute-Montmorency at 08:00 and arrival in La Malbaie at 12:30, return the next day at 13:00 arriving at 17:30, with a transfer between La Malbaie station and the hotel. It was offered from 5 June to 1 November 2026, and a supplement guaranteed seats on the river side. The 2027 season had not been published when we checked. On arrival at La Malbaie, Tourisme Charlevoix mentions shuttles and local transport, including Mobilité collective Charlevoix, as well as taxis.
By boat
For guests arriving on their own boat, the hotel points to the marina at Cap-à-l'Aigle, about 15 minutes away. Private vessels cannot use the Pointe-au-Pic dock, which is reserved for commercial vessels.
