The Manoir holds a Five Green Keys rating from the Hotel Association of Canada — dated 2024 on its history page and 2023 on its sustainability page. Ratings of this kind are a starting point. What interested us more was the list of specific measures the hotel publishes, because specific measures can be checked.
Things the hotel says it does
Bees in the Chef's gardens
The hotel has installed beehives in the Chef's gardens, in partnership with Hydromel Charlevoix. An educational trail explains bees and the region's biodiversity to guests. It is a small project, but a visible one, and it ties the kitchen to the land around it.
A golf course watered by the sky
The whole golf course, the hotel says, is irrigated exclusively with collected rainwater, and a range of tree species is planted across the course. For a 27-hole course above a river, that is a meaningful commitment.
Kitchen waste
Organic waste goes to Compost Pro Charlevoix; recyclables to the local eco-centre, in collaboration with the regional municipality, MRC Charlevoix; used cooking oils are collected by SaniMax and turned into biogas. In the kitchens, Orbisk "smart bins" track food waste to guide purchasing.
Water in the building
A water-conservation program includes low-flow toilets and shower heads, automatic flushing in public washrooms and motion-sensor taps.
The carbon on the plate
The hotel works with Klimato to measure the carbon footprint of its dishes, so that staff and guests can make lower-carbon choices.
Belugas
Since 2005, the hotel has partnered with the GREMM to support whale conservation in the St. Lawrence through its "Adopt a Beluga" program; the hotel adds that the GREMM gives talks to Charlevoix residents.
Snowmobiles
The hotel says it worked with Nord Expé on the region's first electric snowmobiles.
The community
Its page also mentions support for local organisations, including the SACC and Moisson Saguenay.

Things the hotel says it will do
The hotel has electric-vehicle chargers in its lots now, through Hydro-Québec's Circuit Électrique, and says that in partnership with Tesla it "will soon offer" a total of 80 charging points. Until that is announced as done, we treat it as a plan.
What we cannot tell you
The hotel does not publish figures — tonnes of waste diverted, litres of water saved, emissions measured — at least not on the pages we read. Without them, it is not possible to say how large the effect of these measures is. We would welcome the numbers and will add them here if the hotel publishes them.
What a guest can do
Keep towels for more than one day. Take a bike from the resort-fee loan instead of the car for trips into Pointe-au-Pic. Choose the shore centres at Pointe-Noire or Cap-de-Bon-Désir, or a certified operator that respects the marine park's distance rules, for the whales. And if you are driving an electric car, ask about a charger when you book.
