The hotel's own page for this room speaks of "a lavish romantic weekend", "an enchanting view" and "a fantastic Jacuzzi". Hotel copy is rarely understated, but the facts behind it are clear and appealing: 32 square metres, open plan, a King bed, a large Jacuzzi in the room itself, and the river outside. It is the only standard category the hotel limits to two guests, and it is built for exactly that number.
Open plan, and what that means
"Open concept" is the hotel's description, and it is worth reading literally. The whirlpool is part of the room rather than hidden in a separate bathroom, which is the point if you want to look at the river from the water. It also means the room offers little privacy between two people, which is fine for a couple and less so for friends sharing. If you are two friends rather than a couple, a Deluxe View Two Double will serve you better.
When we would book it
An anniversary. A proposal, if that is the plan — the hotel's weddings page describes ceremonies on the clifftop of the golf course, should the answer be yes. A winter weekend when the cold makes a hot bath more attractive than another walk. It is also a good choice for anyone who wants the warmth of a whirlpool but would rather not share the hotel's indoor or outdoor ones, which are open to all guests from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Things to confirm
Because the room is designed for two, a crib or rollaway bed may not be possible; ask before you plan to bring a small child. If you are travelling with a dog, the page's pet-friendly tag is encouraging, but the hotel's pet charge — $60 per room per night on its guest-services page — still applies, and Loto-Québec's site gives a different figure. We will confirm the current rule.
What to write on the request sheet
Choose "Deluxe View Jacuzzi King". If the stay marks an occasion, tell us in the note; a booking made for an anniversary is something hotels like to know about, even if we cannot promise what they will do with the information.
