Every grand hotel has one room it keeps for heads of delegation, film crews and very particular anniversaries. At the Manoir it is La Charlevoix Suite, listed on the booking engine as the Presidential Suite. At 111 square metres it is roughly five times the size of an entry room, and it is the only room in the house that comes with its own piano.
Walking through it
The hotel describes a separate bedroom with a King bed and a marble bathroom with a whirlpool; a parlour with a sofa bed; a dining area; a kitchenette; a decorative fireplace; and an extra powder room for guests, so that visitors to a dinner in the suite do not pass through the bedroom. In the parlour stands a Young Chang grand piano. The hotel says the suite's decoration is inspired by "the artistic touches of local artists", which in a region known for its painters is a fitting idea.
What it is for
The hotel suggests the suite is suited to "intimate events or an extended stay". In practice that means a small reception before a wedding, a private dinner for a family gathering, a working stay for someone who needs to receive people, or simply a long holiday by someone who would rather not leave the river for days at a time. A kitchenette is a real advantage on a longer stay.
Accessibility and pets
The suite's page lists an accessible bathroom with doors 32 inches wide. It is also tagged pet-friendly. If either matters to you, tell us exactly what you need and we will confirm the details with the hotel rather than rely on a booking-engine tag.
Is it worth it?
We cannot answer that for anyone else. What we can say is that a suite of this kind earns its price only if you use it: if you will spend the evenings in it, receive people, sit at the piano or simply sit by the window for hours. For a couple who will be out on the golf course and the whale boats, a Deluxe View room or the One Bedroom Suite View will deliver the river for much less.
What to write on the request sheet
Choose "La Charlevoix Suite" and tell us the occasion and number of guests. If you plan an event in the suite, say how many people; the hotel may want to involve its events team, and group or catering contracts are signed with the hotel directly.
