One-bedroom suites: a bedroom, a parlour, a door

Two versions, 33 and 37 square metres. The bigger one faces the river. Both solve the oldest problem of hotel holidays: who goes to bed first.

One Bedroom Suite
360 sq ft (33 m²); King bedroom adjoining a parlour with sofa bed; no view specified
One Bedroom Suite View
400 sq ft (37 m²); the same layout facing the St. Lawrence River
In the suite
42-inch HDTV, Nespresso machine, kettle, mini-bar and snacks
Resort fee
The suite pages give $35 per room per night (the guest-services page gives $40)

The Manoir's suites are not vast. The One Bedroom Suite is 33 square metres, only a little larger than a Deluxe room, and the View version 37. What they offer is not floor area but arrangement: a bedroom with a King bed, and next to it a separate parlour with a sofa bed. The hotel's booking engine calls them Suite King and Suite St-Laurent King; the room pages call them One Bedroom Suite and One Bedroom Suite View.

Why the door matters

In a single room, everyone keeps the same hours. In a suite, children can sleep in the parlour while adults read in bed, or a light sleeper can retire while a companion watches the hockey. For a stay of four or five nights, and particularly in winter when evenings are long, that is often worth more than a bigger room. It also helps anyone who has to work: a call can be taken in the parlour without waking anybody.

The view version

The One Bedroom Suite View is the less expensive way to combine a separate parlour with the river. If you are choosing between it and a Deluxe View room, think about who is travelling. For a couple, the Deluxe View room gives almost the same view at a lower price. For a couple with a child, or for two adults who keep different hours, the suite's door makes the difference.

A note on the resort fee

The hotel's suite pages give the resort fee as $35 per room per night, while its guest-services page gives $40. We have no way of knowing which is current. The fee covers on-site activities, such as bike loans. When we answer your request we will state the fee that applies to the price we quote.

What to write on the request sheet

Choose "One-bedroom suite" and tell us whether the river view matters. If you need a crib or rollaway in addition to the sofa bed, add it to the note.

The request sheet

Write your dates and the room you have in mind on the lines below. A person at our desk checks what the Manoir has open for those nights, with the hotel or a booking partner, and answers by email.

Thank you — your sheet has reached our desk. We check the dates with the hotel or a booking partner and write back with what is open and the price. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.

We are paid a booking commission only when a request sent from this sheet becomes a confirmed stay — by the hotel or by the booking partner that completes it, never by you. How we earn. This is a request, not a reservation, and we never ask for a card number.
