The Deluxe room is the category the Manoir writes for families. Its pages describe a "spacious room featuring sitting area with sofabed", and the difference from the entry room — 27 square metres instead of 21 — is enough to put a sofa and a low table in a separate corner. With two Double beds and a sofa bed, the Deluxe Two Double is the plainest answer the hotel has to the question of where to put two adults and two children without booking a suite.
Living in it for a few days
A sitting area does more than add a bed. It gives one person somewhere to read while another sleeps, a place to spread out ski clothes to dry, a corner for a laptop that is not the end of the bed. The hotel also offers cribs, rollaway beds and fridges on request, and mentions high chairs and colouring books for children. If you are booking for a week, these small things matter more than the size of the television.
The family logistics around it
Three practical points from the hotel's guest-services page are worth knowing with children. The pools — an indoor pool and two outdoor pools, one of them open all year — are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The hotel can arrange babysitting through a service it calls Le Club des Amis, booked through the Royal Service desk on +1 418-665-3703 or extension 0 from the room. And bike loans are included in the resort fee, which is useful in summer for older children.
Without the view
Like the entry rooms, Deluxe rooms are not promised a river view. If that matters, the Deluxe View rooms are the same size with the St. Lawrence in the window. For a family that will be out all day at the pool, the golf course or the whale boats, the plain Deluxe room is a sensible place to save.
What to write on the request sheet
Tell us the number of adults and children, the children's ages if you are happy to, and if you need a crib or a rollaway as well as the sofa bed. If you are thinking of two connecting rooms rather than one Deluxe room, say so — the hotel lists connecting rooms among the things it can arrange on request, and we can ask for prices on both.
